Description
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator partners with the site team to coordinate safety and
environmental programs that promote a healthy and safe working environment. This individual
assures compliance with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations including
NCDOL -Occupational Safety and Health Div. An effective Coordinator should be self-motivated and
self-directed to take actions that achieve the goals of the company. Prepares all required reports and
recommends corrective actions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides support on environmental health and safety compliance to site personnel under the
guidance of the EHS Manager.
2. Serves as site contact for insurance, regulatory, and consultant visits when EHS Manager is not
present or as needed.
3. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the environmental, health and safety
management systems and recordkeeping processes.
4. Maintains confidentiality.
5. Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties. Stays up to date on state and
federal environmental health & safety regulations.
6. Consults with site managers regarding the implementation of new safety procedures.
7. Mentors/coaches hourly employees at the facility in safe procedures and requirements.
Periodically inspects the facility to identify existing or potential safety and health hazards to
determine corrective measures and ensure measures are implemented.
8. Coordinates and facilitates Safety Committee meetings and projects.
9. Executes safety training including working with the Training Department in New Employee
Safety Orientation and developing training materials for these presentations.
10. Inspects or evaluates workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance
with CPI safety standards and government regulations.
11. Leads the investigation of accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents
might be prevented in the future. Follows up on the implementation of corrective actions.
12. Inspects specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment,
and first-aid supplies.
13. Analyzes incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards.
14. Develops or maintains hygiene programs, such as noise air quality surveys.
15. Maintains or updates emergency response plans or procedures.

Technical Competencies:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Management.
• Qualifying experience may be evaluated in lieu of a degree for experience in the health, safety
environmental field in a manufacturing environment.
• Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
