POSITION OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Foreman leads and supervises second shift maintenance operations, ensuring efficient vehicle maintenance, repair services, and team performance while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to maintenance staff performing repair, maintenance, and servicing of transit vehicles and equipment
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair strategies
- Conduct quality control inspections and road tests of repaired vehicles
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs
- Provide technical training and guidance to maintenance staff on repair procedures, tool usage, and safety protocols
- Manage performance evaluations, documentation, and professional development of team members
- Coordinate vehicle logistics, including transportation to service areas and storage facilities
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and prepare comprehensive repair reports
- Utilize and maintain proficiency in relevant computer systems and maintenance software
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and departmental procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years of heavy truck/equipment maintenance experience
- Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
Technical Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including batteries and charging systems
- Proficiency in diagnostic equipment operation and interpretation
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with maintenance management software systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and maintenance manuals
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy tools, equipment, and parts
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and working in various positions
- Capability to perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance and repair
