MAINTENANCE FOREMAN (SECOND SHIFT)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Foreman leads and supervises second shift maintenance operations, ensuring efficient vehicle maintenance, repair services, and team performance while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct supervision and leadership to maintenance staff performing repair, maintenance, and servicing of transit vehicles and equipment
• Diagnose complex mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair strategies
• Conduct quality control inspections and road tests of repaired vehicles
• Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs
• Provide technical training and guidance to maintenance staff on repair procedures, tool usage, and safety protocols
• Manage performance evaluations, documentation, and professional development of team members
• Coordinate vehicle logistics, including transportation to service areas and storage facilities
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and prepare comprehensive repair reports
• Utilize and maintain proficiency in relevant computer systems and maintenance software
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and departmental procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years of heavy truck/equipment maintenance experience
• Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience
• Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered

Technical Competencies

• Advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including batteries and charging systems
• Proficiency in diagnostic equipment operation and interpretation
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with maintenance management software systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and maintenance manuals

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy tools, equipment, and parts
• Extended periods of standing, walking, and working in various positions
• Capability to perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance and repair
