What will a E-Commerce Shipper/Material Handler do?

Position Purpose

E-Commerce Shipper/Material Handler is responsible for order fulfillment which includes packaging and shipping orders, pulling, and shelving merchandise, organizing, and arranging materials. This position requires high standards of organizing, quality presentation of product and customer service.

Job Functions

• Through words and actions support Chattanooga Goodwills Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
• Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
• Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety, loss prevention and risk management for self and others into daily activities and ensures participation in safety programs. Attends required safety training; participates in safety drills and exercises. Ensures tools and equipment are always in good working order and uses equipment safely.
• Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity.
• Requires punctual and regular attendance. Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.
• Performs job duties in a prompt, thorough and acceptable manner. Performs duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects Goodwills ethics, in accordance with Goodwill policies, procedures, CARF standards and generally accepted business practices.
• Works cooperatively with all organization employees, participants, customers, and other persons contacted during performing duties. Shows respect and sensitivity for those with barriers to employment.
• Consistently provides excellent customer service to internal business partners and external customers.
• Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property.
• Retrieves a variety of items.
• Answer customers inquiries in a timely manner if applicable.
• Effectively manage inventory if requested, order supplies as needed.
• Ensure most efficient and cost-effective shipping options are utilized.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports.
• Prepare shipping labels using shipping software, package and ship sold items.
• Clean, straighten and organize listed-merchandise shelves.
• Maintain a clean and orderly processing area.
• Uses material handling equipment such as pallet jack and hand truck to move heavily weighted containers. Throughout the course of the workday handles and moves a large amount of materials around the worksite. Pushes heavy wheeled carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment.
• May perform necessary janitorial work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Knowledge and Experience

• Experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control highly desirable.
• Computer literate and basic principles of postal shipping methods.
• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; basic math.
• Principles and procedures of filing and record keeping.
• Ability to: Speak and understand the English language sufficient to read and understand materials, communicate with customers and coworkers.
• Able to work at usually hectic pace with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations.
• Work without direct supervision.
• Organize workflow for optimal output.
• Operate standard office equipment and material handling equipment such as hand truck and pallet jack. (training provided)
