What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Program Supervisor position at CHD Brand?
Center for Human Development, (CHD), is currently looking for a Shelter Property Supervisor to manage day-to-day operations of our Diversion, Shelter and Housing maintenance team and EA Shelter properties. The Shelter Property Supervisor is a professional committed to providing safe, high quality physical environments for Programs of the Center for Human Development. S/he is accountable to the Property Manager who is responsible for providing supervision and training.
YOUR ROLE AS A SHELTER PROPERTY SUPERVISOR YOU WILL:
- Manage the daily operations of the Shelter maintenance team and ensures work assignments are completed in a safe and timely manner.
- Works closely with the corporate property Manager and Shelter & Homeless Program.
- Monitors work quality on a regular basis through the use of inspection reports to ensure the work of maintenance staff meets all regulatory requirements. Issues corrective instructions and conducts follow up inspections to ensure compliance:

- Work Orders that come through from the Shelter program and/or maintenance inspection team will be assigned daily to Maintenance staff.
- Walkthrough buildings with maintenance staff to ensure buildings meet CHD standards.
- Conducts inspections of Shelter buildings as needed.
- Inspects work completed by Maintenance/Inspector staff to ensure it is completed to CHD standards.
- Effectively communicates with Shelter Program and Property Manager about issues relating to landlord repairs deemed not client damage.
- Coordinates repairs with contracted services with oversight from the Property Manager. Discuss with Property Mgr. and Shelter program any tasks or work orders that are out of scope of work or will require additional resources regarding Maintenance/Inspector staff.
- Performs maintenance tasks as needed associated with painting, plumbing, carpentry, moves, electrical, trouble shoots appliance operation, and general maintenance.
- Assist/Works on projects with minimum supervision.
- Conducts building inspections to evaluate physical/structural condition and makes recommendations to Property Manager.
- Meets with vendors at sites for quotes per direction of the Property Manager.
- Assists in controlling maintenance costs and maintains appropriate records
- Responds to emergency calls.
- Respects clients and their homes as s/he performs maintenance work.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RECORD KEEPING:
- Completes and submits program documentation accurately and on time (maintenance logs, time sheets, expense receipts, mileage records, etc.)
- Works with daily work order distribution to ensure all maintenance staff have work throughout the day.
- Transposes all inspection findings to work orders in accordance with the CHD Inspections Check list
- Attends regular supervisory meeting with Property Manager.
- Maintains online records, emails
- On call 24/7 responding to emergency needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years’ experience working in a property maintenance environment preferred.
- Computer skills are a must, inputting reports and responding to emails are essential.
- Additional licensing isn’t required but is preferred.
- High School or Vocational School diploma preferred.
- Some supervisory experience in a maintenance role is preferred.
