Position Overview:
Chebeague Island Inn, a historic and picturesque island hotel nestled in the heart of Casco Bay, Maine, is seeking a Full-Time Hourly Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a passion for hospitality, skilled trades, and ensuring that our guests experience exceptional service and comfort during their stay. As a member of our team, you will play an integral part in maintaining the beauty and functionality of this iconic, heirloom hotel. The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Facilities Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs of the hotel’s facilities, including guestrooms, public areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with addressing and resolving issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, painting, and general carpentry.
- Ensure that all safety protocols and standards are followed to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests from hotel management and staff promptly.
- Perform seasonal preparations for opening and closing the hotel, including winterizing systems, landscaping, and other maintenance tasks.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring materials are available as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of maintenance areas and equipment storage.
- Collaborate with other departments to support guest services, including setting up equipment for events or addressing special maintenance needs.
- Help with preventative maintenance and perform minor repairs to preserve the aesthetic and historical integrity of the Inn.
- Report regularly to the Facilities Manager regarding the status of ongoing maintenance tasks, upcoming needs, and any issues requiring attention.
- Work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure maintenance operations run smoothly and that all safety and efficiency standards are maintained.
Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality or a related field.
- Proficiency in basic maintenance skills such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, and carpentry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks in all weather conditions.
- A positive attitude, with a strong commitment to safety and a guest-first mentality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the Facilities Manager.
