Summary: Check Defense is a fast-growing federal contractor seeking a qualified and experienced professional Electronics Technician III to support military training. Responsible for advanced technical support, including the installation, modification, upgrade, maintenance, and operational readiness of Government Furnished Property (GFP) training systems and devices. This position requires strong technical expertise, meticulous documentation, and adherence to engineering and technical standards, ensuring all modifications, preventive maintenance, and operational checks meet Government requirements.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Use best engineering practices when installing Government Furnished Property (GFP) modification and upgrade kits.
- Perform all installations in accordance with Government-provided manufacturer manuals and/or technical data.
- Track and manage all manufacturer warranties within the Integrated Systems Tracking System (ISTS).
- Ensure all subsystems are up and operational in accordance with the scheduled training start time.
- Conducted full system operation and functionality checks following installation using government-provided manufacturer instructions and technical data.
- Ensure all data, including installation notes, maintenance records, warranties, and operational results, are accurately logged into ISTS.
- Maintain complete and precise records of all work performed, ensuring traceability and compliance
- Ensure all devices are free of dirt, dust, or standing water, applying best commercial practices for equipment cleanliness.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance on HITS systems (Homestation Instrumentation Training System) in accordance with applicable technical and operator manuals.
- Perform maintenance and service wherever training devices are located within installation training areas, including remote field locations.
- Perform rust prevention and corrosion control tasks on warm storage HITS systems and active HITS sites.
- Conduct pre-training system checks to verify operational readiness.
- Load and configure the required database to support SAF entities and ensure all necessary units have been properly loaded for the selected training scenario.
- Provide familiarization training to operators and personnel when scheduled.
- Training includes proper wear and use of radios and dismount kits.
- Conduct orientation briefings for visitors, providing an overview of the systems, safety protocols, and site procedures.
- Ensure all training sessions, briefings, and maintenance activities are accurately documented and logged into the Integrated Systems Tracking System (ISTS).
- Perform all necessary actions to retain or restore training devices and TADSS (Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations) to Fully Mission Capable (FMC) condition.
- Follow applicable technical manuals and repair guidelines when performing:
- Inspection, testing, and servicing.
- Serviceability classification.
- Component repairs, refurbishment, and overhaul.
- Removal and replacement of secondary items and components.
- Repair and remanufacture of reparable components.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance that includes cleaning, servicing, functional checks, and routine adjustments to ensure all devices and TADSS remain in FMC condition.
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma (AA Degree desirable/Experience Equivalent to Degree) with 8 years of recent electrical/electronic industrial work experience; Minimum 6 years of experience with electrical systems and /or repair of electronic components.
- Valid US-issued Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with military training systems, HITS, TADSS, and live training environments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturer manuals, technical data, and Government standards.
- Ability to conduct thorough system inspections, operational checks, and preventive maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working closely with both technical teams and military personnel.
- Flexibility to work varied hours in a dynamic training environment, including possible weekends and holidays, as training schedules demand.
Working condition:
- Ability to perform duties in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, and rain) and at height (towers and phone poles).
- Exposure to bright flashes of light.
- Noise between 50 dB to 165 dB.
- This position may require travel to other installations and other ATMP locations throughout CONUS.
Physical Requirements:
