Job Description
COMC is looking to hire a Front-End Developer at our Algona, WA location. Eventually this person will be required to report to our Tacoma, WA location. This person needs to have a strong background in front-end development, a passion for creating user-friendly and scalable web applications, and the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with team members. The Front-End Developer is an individual contributor reporting to the Engineering Manager.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced Front-End Developer who has a proven track record of playing a pivotal role in building modern, high-performance user interfaces and staying ahead of emerging technologies and trends.
Job Responsibilities
• Build and Maintain Applications: Develop, maintain, and optimize high-quality web applications using modern front-end technologies.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with designers, back-end developers, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless and engaging user experiences.
• Lead and Innovate: Take ownership of impactful product features and contribute to driving technical excellence within the team.
• Optimize for Performance: Ensure applications are optimized for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability across various devices and browsers.
• Technical Feasibility and Execution: Collaborate with product and UX/UI design teams to ensure the technical feasibility of proposed designs.
• Code Quality and Standards: Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and design principles.
• Continuous Integration and Deployment: Support automated CI/CD pipelines for deploying new features and product updates.
• Stay Current: Continuously research and implement the latest industry trends, tools, and techniques to improve development processes and outcomes.
• Uphold COMC values, quality standards, and exemplify C.A.R.D. culture.
• Be a willing and collaborative partner to support all areas of the organization.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
• At least 5 years of professional front-end development experience.
• High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field of study is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6 ), and at least one modern front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, or Svelte).
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility (WCAG compliance).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub) and code collaboration practices.
• Competence in managing application state using state management tools.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs for data integration.
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with React and Next.js for building server-rendered and progressive web apps.
• Knowledge of modern design systems (e.g., Material UI).
• Proficiency in testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Jest, Cypress) for unit and end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with server-side rendering (SSR) and static website generation.
Work Location
Preferred Location – Algona, WA with an eventual work location move to Tacoma, WA
Opportunity for Remote work – Yes, Hybrid 2-3 days per week on-site. Remaining days, remote work eligible.
