Typically, the Lead Architect - Systems is assigned to multiple, enterprise class assignments that are large scale, highly complex, strategic and/or highly visible. Provide strategic level technical leadership in the areas of Unix/Linux, and Microsoft Windows architecture and technologies. In addition, the Lead Architect - Systems Architect must provide strategic direction for Utility computing models, as well as Grid computing, and Virtualization.

Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Manages technical risk and risk/reward equation
- Delivers timely, quality services that meet or exceed the expectations of management and customers
- Coordinates expectations and deliverables on inter/intra projects and systems
- Provides active technical leadership role in departmental projects and initiatives
- Assures smooth functioning of systems processes and procedures
- Analyzes data, trends or obstacles and present recommendations for solutions or alternative methods of proceeding
- Provides technical leadership for Systems Architecture at all levels of the organization
- Regularly sought out for/contributes expertise into department's technical capabilities
- Develop detailed systems architectures to address emerging business needs and requirements
- Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems and develop technical, structural and organizational designs and specification
- Define processes and procedures used for managing the enterprise infrastructure entities
- Define, publish and monitor infrastructure systems technical standards
- Provides technical guidance for all design efforts throughout Corporate IS and within IT departments as required
- Coordinates and facilitates cross architectural team meetings to ensure applications and systems are being developed/implemented that meet the business, technical and architectural requirements
- Anticipates and reacts to customers' needs
- Consistently meets or exceeds customers' expectations; maintains customer's confidence
- Knowledgeable about critical success factors for the customer
- Identifies new opportunities to market services to customers
- Explains complex technical concepts to the customer in terms the customer understands
- Participates in the vendor selection process, including support with Request for Proposal development
- Drives the selection of technologies and tools for area of responsibility
- Assists in technical management of vendor during systems implementations and maintenance changes as required
- Fosters environment of continuous improvement
- Documents and presents architectural design project status
- Provides direction/support for the technical aspects of quality deliverables
- Leads, educates, communicates and applies department's methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum of eight years as a technical leader in telecommunications with demonstrated expertise in operations analysis and quality
- Minimum of five years experience with telecommunications network architecture, protocols, and technologies
- Expertise in OSS platforms such as AlticeLabs, Amdocs, Netcracker, or similar systems.
- Hands on experience with Carrier Ethernet technologies, standards, and protocols.
- Familiarity with TMForum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Process Framework (eTOM) and Information Framework (SID)
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management experience
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal business partners at all levels
