Location: John F. Kennedy High School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District
Salary/Pay Scale: $43,953 - $54,207 commensurate with experience (with an additional $2,200 for a Master's Degree as per the TAC contract)
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive student-centered learning environment that recognizes all students' unique needs and talents by combining character education with a curriculum based on critical thinking. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners who are best prepared for college, careers, and beyond.
Responsibilities & Skills:
- Possess strong knowledge and experience teaching high school mathematics
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans, making learning targets clear for students
- Create and deliver lessons grounded in evidence-based practices and current formative data
- Demonstrated evidence of incorporating differentiated instruction in planning a lesson/unit of instruction
- Observe and evaluate students' performance in meeting expectations of the Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards
- Manage student behavior in the classroom with appropriate disciplinary techniques and utilize restorative practices
- Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility and leadership
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay abreast of current topics in education
- Work collaboratively with administrators, department chairs, academic advisors, and colleagues to create a positive work environment that promotes student achievement
- Embrace the District's Vision of educating the Whole Child
- Knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors
Requirements & Qualifications:
- NYSED Certification in Mathematics 7 - 12
