Director of HR Compliance and Labor Policy
ROLE SUMMARY :
The Director of HR Compliance and Labor Policy will be an integral and strategic leader, driving, implementing, and organizing Cheer Home Care and Cheer Health Care’s human resource compliance and people policy systems. The Director of HR Compliance will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and oversee all aspects of employment law compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. They will plan, direct, or coordinate activities for the organization to ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards including ACA, HIPAA, and others, as applicable. The Director of HR Compliance must be a strong communicator with experience working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, and can react to changing variables quickly, especially as it relates to home and health care.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, local employment, and industry regulations.
- Prepare reports for leadership on compliance status, risks, and action plans.
- Ensure buy-in from the executive team on proposed firm policy changes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and standards.
- Conduct regular audits of HR practices to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Maintain accurate records for industry compliance or requests and licensing audits, investigations, and regulatory filings.
- Gather data and respond to Worker’s Comp and Unemployment Claims.
- Act as liaison and respond to inquiries between organizations and external regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, EEOC, etc.
- Conduct internal training sessions on compliance-related topics, including anti-discrimination laws, wage and hour regulations, and workplace safety.
- Retain and document training materials for each annual training, and maintain records on employee compliance / attendance.
- Promote awareness and act as a role model of compliance standards and ethical conduct across the organization.
- Be the subject matter expert on employment law, providing legal advice to CEO and management team on complex employment issues, including terminations, disciplinary actions, and accommodation requests.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to manage investigations into complaints or violations of policies.
- Develop corrective actions for compliance issues and implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, including OSHA requirements.
- Draft employee handbook policies, updating handbook and text to reflect changes.
- Work collaboratively with global offices to ensure compliance with local regulations pertaining to human resources
- Develop goals for the compliance group and propose improvements and changes to hit those targets
