GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Nutt Hill General Manager

Employment Dates: To Be Determined, Potential Season Expectations: October 1 – April 30

Job Summary

The General Manager of Nutt Hill heavily focuses on providing exceptional service to guests. The role is tasked with providing a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere of outdoor recreation and leading our employees to achieve a top-level guest experience by fostering the best possible ski, snowboard, and tubing conditions. Management duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overall coordination of snowmaking, grooming, facilities upkeep, equipment maintenance, and working with the Cheese Capital Winter Park Leaders. This job is primarily located at Nutt Hill but could include support and service for off-site events as needed. This position’s work schedule will include a combination of weekdays, weekends, evenings, holidays, and possibly extra hours during the Winter Outdoor Recreation Season.

Essential Functions

· Work with Cheese Capital Winter Park Leaders to execute the long-term vision for the success and growth of Nutt Hill.

· Management and execution of Capital Improvement Projects.

· Oversight and leadership of all Hill operations departments: Lift operations, Lift maintenance, Grooming, Groomer maintenance, Snowmaking, Snowmaking maintenance, Ski Patrol, Group Sales, Ticketing, Concessions, all facilities maintenance, and grounds upkeep/cleanliness.

· Assemble a hill operations team at Nutt Hill that can support the vision and operations plan.

· Manage year-round hill setup and maintenance including but not limited to trail openings and closures, signage, ropes, and padding.

· Leadership, safe operation, and maintenance of Nutt Hill, including ensuring that the ski/tubing hill complies with local, state, OSHA, ANSI-B77 standards, as well as the skier responsibility code.

· Manage and maintain partnerships with Plymouth Snow Rangers, City of Plymouth, and local Emergency Response.

· Manage and conduct Incident Investigations with detail and empathy.

Key Responsibilities

· Develops strong working relationships with local, regional, and various community partners such as school programming.

· Mentor and develop the team enabling them to take on more responsibility and move up to new roles.

· Possess exceptional professional leadership and team working skills to positively influence staff.

· Effectively supervise all areas of the team including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action as necessary.

· Monitor employee and team performance, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed, all equipment is being operated in a safe and responsible manner.

· Develop budgets and set operating plans that align with departmental and total Hill goals.

· Order supplies as necessary within budgetary restrictions.

· Be knowledgeable in all areas of resort operations and provide hands-on expertise.

· Recommend measures to improve necessary maintenance, equipment performance, quality, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or work crew.

· Possess excellent problem-solving skills that allows for analysis and logic-driven efficient and effective resolutions for the Hill concerns or to assist workers in solving work problems.

· Evaluate hill conditions and hill facilities for hazards or potential hazards and take appropriate steps to mitigate.

· Nutt Hill is a park in the City of Plymouth. Guests will ask to rent portions of our buildings and grounds during and outside of the winter season. Hospitality rental income is another critical stream of revenue for our organization

· Attendance at CCWP meetings, as required.

Qualifications

· Must be 21 years of age or older.

· High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

· Current or ability to be certified First Aid/CPR.

· Must possess or acquire a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

· Expected to have command of the English language, both written and verbal.

· Essential to have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to various groups and individuals of a wide range of backgrounds.

· Exemplary guest service skills with a polished professional appearance and demeanor.

· Ability to engage with the public daily in recreational activities, delivering outstanding customer care.

· Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, make sound decisions, and work without direct supervision.

· Ability to work cooperatively with others including guests, employees, contractors, private landowners, clubs, organizations, and the public.

· Should possess a working knowledge of computers and POS systems.

· Candidates should be able to use and create documents using the Microsoft Office Suite of products and have experience using the Window’s platforms.

· Must have access to all-weather transportation for getting to and from the work location.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods, reach, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, and smell.

· Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and navigate uneven and slippery terrain.

· Must be able to walk on slick, wet, snow covered and uneven surfaces.

· Must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs. and carry for short distances.

· Must be able to tolerate hot/cold temperatures at times above 95° Fahrenheit and below 0° Fahrenheit.

Working Conditions

· Indoor/outdoor including extreme temperatures with snow & ice in the winter months.

· Noisy and fast-paced environment with adults, children, and groups.

· Frequent guest interaction.

This Job Description is not limited to only the information provided in this document; the responsibilities of the day-to-day operations of Nutt Hill is varied and employees must be able to quickly adjust to processes, personnel, and guest needs.

Additionally, the General Manager must show up for work on time and appropriately dressed for daily operations. Business operation schedules and levels are affected by the weather, requiring the ability for this position to maintain flexibility in their work schedule.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
