Job Description
 
The Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the electronic design portion of the appliance. This can include an analog portion including power supply, power control, and sensors as well as the digital section which can include a simple processor or a complex processor including WiFi and Bluetooth. The processor will also interface to the user interface which could include cap-touch as well as LCD displays. This person will assist in schematic design as well as BOM and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.  This exciting opportunity is based out of our Mahwah, NJ office. Role and Responsibilities
  • Work on the design and development of product hardware, employing microcontrollers and real time operating systems (RTOS).
  • PCB artwork, design, and schematic activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • assist with the entire PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with the UI/UX team to create seamless and user-friendly product interfaces.
  • Interface with vendors and the factory to optimize production processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design teams to integrate hardware components effectively.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test procedures, conducting unit testing and application testing.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation throughout the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Product Development teams to define user interface requirements.
  • Ensure the technical portion of the project folder information is current and organized.
  • Act as a interface with vendors and the factory, addressing technical concerns promptly.
  • Generate detailed reports of test results, providing comprehensive documentation.
 Skills and Proficiencies
  • Experience in product hardware design using microcontrollers and RTOS.
  • Proficiency in PCB artwork, design, and schematic tools.
  • Strong understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to assist in maintaining project timelines.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of project documentation.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with vendors, the factory, and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality hardware solutions.
  • Familiarity with user interface design and a collaborative approach to defining UI requirements. Experience in creating and implementing comprehensive test procedures for hardware products
Required Skills
  • Familiarity with electronic and small electrical product development
  • Technical knowledge in engineering including both analog and digital hardware development.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to complete projects and document work
  • Ability to multitask and to manage multiple goals and objectives to their successful conclusion
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in HW development
  • Experience with electronic and small electrical appliance product development
  • Experience developing hardware and firmware for embedded system
  • Experience in Embedded System Architecture and documentation
  • Experience with wireless networks including WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Experience with integration of LCD displays and other user interfaces
  • Experience with designing circuit board schematic capture and layout tools (Altium or similar)
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with embedded FW development in C
  • Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar)
  • Technologically and design savvy
  • Experience working with small kitchen appliances
  • Amateur foodie or passionate about cooking or eating
