Fast growing food manufacturing facility located in Mendota California, 25 miles West of Fresno, is searching for a Food Safety Director to head up their food safety regulations. Family owned and operated; this company has a relaxing and fun environment with flexible hours to fit your family needs.
The Food Safety Director will perform duties which support the company’s QA/QC and sanitation operational key performance indicators as well as verify all products to ensure Food Safety, Quality, FDA/USDA regulations. Responsible for the review, verification, validation, and update all food safety programs, procedures, and documents.
DUTIES
- Manage the Quality and Food Safety function at the facility.
- Serves as SQF/BRC Practitioner and site Preventive Controls Qualified Individual.
- Manage programs to verify, validate the Food Safety Prerequisite programs.
- Manage the plant Food Safety Plan and sanitation associated policies and procedures.
- Serves as Food Safety Team Member.
- Monitor, support and enforce all food safety processes and procedures. This includes all USDA standards, SQF standards, and customer specific standards as identified in supporting documentation.
- Participate in weekly Food Safety meetings.
- Ensure all quality procedures and processes are followed according to document policies.
- Ensures that all GMP and Safety standards are in compliance.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all products manufactured by the plant as well as the raw materials, packaging materials, and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications and standards.
- Formulates and maintains quality objectives, aligns and coordinates objectives with Production and Corporate objectives in cooperation with the CEO and other managers to maximize food safety, product quality and minimize costs.
- Coaches QA team to become technical resources for facilitating issue resolution on the production floor.
- Designs and implements quality assurance and sanitation training programs.
- Investigates and responds to customer complaints. Tracks complaint and reacts to emerging issues or trends engaging the appropriate functions and process owners (i.e. production, maintenance, PD, etc) to resolve.
- Develops and analyzes statistical quality data. Utilizes these data for troubleshooting or continuous quality improvement where appropriate.
- Coordinate and participate in mock recalls.
- Responds to customer requests and queries.
- Provides technical support to operations.
- Monitor Pre-Operational inspections
- Monitor production for compliance to specifications and collects product quality data for analysis
- Initiate, trace and monitor product on QA Hold
- Prepare daily reports of inspection results
- In-House Lab Duties for Pathogen Control
You have:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in food science, Animal Science, Microbiology, Biology, or other science related degree a plus
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a fast-paced food industry environment, industry related training
- Meat background a plus
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP principles and programs
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to complete assignments
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook with a passion for accuracy
- Ability to get things done within a decentralized environment with minimal supervision
- Positive and professional approach with willingness to learn
- Ability to co-ordinate and co-operate with members of other department
- Proven ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Dealing with USDA/FDA is mandatory
- HACCP Certified
- GFSI Experience (BRC)
- PCQI Certified
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015, other ISO standards can apply as well
- Understanding of PHIS and other Government programs a must
