This Position:

As an Apprentice Energy Control Center Operator, you'll play a key role in keeping the power system running smoothly and safely. You will restore power faster by using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. You would act as the eyes and ears for our linemen, meter services technicians, and power quality technicians in the field. This position requires shift work, with evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis. This position is also subject to on-call during emergencies. Valid driver’s license preferred.

Apprentice Energy Control Center Operator Minimum Requirements:

This position requires candidates to have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least a minimum of two years of related experience. Six months of experience in telephone/radio communications required.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of the people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Ability to converse with internal and/or external customers in English.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously by telephone and radio.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with people in order to project a positive image of the Cooperative.
  • Must be very alert and quick to determine callers’ needs.
  • Must have basic clerical skills, and must be computer literate.
  • Must have legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations and/or perform duties under pressure.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to use multiple control systems.
