Position: Anticipated Opening SummerFest Supervisor
Location: Community Education
We are looking for a strong leader to join our SummerFest Supervisory staff. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing leadership to both staff and children. The individual should be extremely organized and have great time management skills. This individual will report to the Childcare Supervisor and work with the SummerFest Leadership team to plan and run a smooth summer program.
This will be a Seasonal, non-benefited position with a commitment for a minimum of 5 weeks, (July 7th- Aug 8th), with additional meetings and planning time during the school year (approx. 40 hours of planning). The weekly hours will vary based on the needs of the program. A typical week will be 25-30 hours. The salary will be $22 to $27 per hour. Program hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts may be required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
School Year:
•Meets with CommEd Administrative Team as needed to discuss SF developments.
•May be required to meet with the Childcare Supervisor and Leaders in individual Groups to conceptualize activities for upcoming
summer & discuss supplies needed and inspire staff.
•Mentors new Leader Staff and new SF Staff.
•Monitors Google Docs weekly for any required input for planning purposes.
•Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
Summer Months:
•Supervise program with daily attendance of 130 children, grades 1-6.
•Supervise 50 part time employees.
•Manage staff to make sure the agreed upon procedures for running of SF are followed.
•Assist staff when needed with issues with the children. Develop behavioral management plans when needed working with Childcare
Supervisor.
•Mentor, train and inspire staff.
•Create weekly and daily schedules based on special guests and events.
•Create, get approved and send out a weekly newsletter to families.
•Create and submit a daily schedule and memo for staff.
•Staffing-utilizing W2W to create summer schedule and fill in spots when a sub is needed.
•Evaluate SF staff.
•Attend and chair midday meetings
•Uses Google Docs and other forms of communication to ensure all parties are informed.
•Work with nurse to monitor children with food allergies for daily activities.
•Assume nursing responsibilities when no nurse is on duty.
•Determine if children can go outside or not on days with a high heat index. May work with nurse on duty in this regard.
•Manage all Special Guests and Events.
•Communicate with parents when needed.
•Work with Front Desk Leader to make sure front area information is accurate and current.
•Oversee with the set up and breakdown of SF.
•Break coverage as needed.
•Temperature checks of students.
•Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS:
•Fast-paced environment.
•Regular interruptions to assist customers and staff.
•Ability to lift and carry files, documents, equipment, etc.
•Some travel by personal automobile to stores, CommEd Office, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•BS in Elementary Education preferred.
•3 years’ supervisory experience preferred.
•Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and Google Docs.
•Proficiency with Windows operating system.
•Strong work ethic, self-starter, motivated, flexible, positive attitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must.
