Summer Counselor.

This will be a Seasonal, non-benefited position running July 7th-August 8th. The weekly hours will vary based on the needs of the program. Program hours are vary. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts will be required.
Job Goal: To assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun summer experience to the children enrolled in our Chelmsford Community Education Summer Programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during any activities provided. This position covers all Chelmsford Community Education Programs, including but not limited to: Summerfest, SummerQuest, Field Play, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma. Student with some college work completed preferred.
2. Related experience working with children/teens desirable.
3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Director of Community Education.
5. CORI and fingerprinting completed and accepted.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform various instructional, clerical, supportive and other related duties under the direction of the Supervisor. To aid in meeting the objectives of the program. This program involves working closely with children, ages ranging from Pre-K to 9th grade depending upon the program. This position covers all Chelmsford Community Education Programs, including but not limited to: Summerfest, SummerQuest, Field Play, Preschool Enrichment Programs, etc.
Responsibilities of the Summer Counselor include:
1. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of records on students in need of individualized instruction.
2. Assist with planning activities for students to enhance their experience.
3. Assist in meeting students' individualized needs by adapting behavior management expectations and plans.
4. Assist with the supervision of students when needed.
5. Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
6. Implement plans aligned with the weekly theme.
7. Create a safe and enjoyable environment for the children.
8. Ability to attend the mandatory staff meeting prior to Summer and complete all required training.
9. Potentially work as Group Leader.
10. Help offer our students an amazing summer filled with games, laughter and positive interaction.
11. Ability to work on the floor, lift over 50 lbs, work in outdoors during all weather conditions, stay on their feet, and other physical requirements as needed. Some programs will travel daily rain or shine.

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor and Director of Community Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Position ranges from part time to full time.
2. Hours will vary based on program.
3. Salary $18.75 per hour.
4. Work Year: Summer Position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Supervisor and will be discussed with the incumbent. A copy will be maintained by the Director of Community Education.
