The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. Position : Anticipated Opening SummerFest Art Instructor Location : Community Education This will be a Seasonal, non-benefited position running July 7th-August 8th. The weekly hours will vary based on the needs of the program. Program hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts will be required. Job Description : We are looking for a part-time Art Instructor for a leadership position during full day summer program. Job Goal : To assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun summer experience to the children enrolled in our Chelmsford Community Education Summer Programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during any activities provided. Candidates must be willing to meet with Summerfest Supervisor prior to summer to develop a basic fun and educational theme-based plan, with a focus on their area of activities. During the Summer candidates must implement plans and be able to adapt planned activities based upon the children's age, abilities, and interest level. Candidates must also be willing to inform Supervisors of damaged or needed equipment, be willing to help oversee Supportive Staff Members in their area, able to offer positive reinforcement to all children, maintain a positive attitude as well as a professional demeanor, and perform other duties as assigned. The candidate should have the ability to work in a fast pace environment and have a flexible mindset allowing them to adapt to sudden changes in plans (for example, rainy days, in house visitors, occasional changes to schedule). Art Instructor Responsibilities : Candidates must be enthusiastic, creative and willing to help implement a diverse, imaginative and open ended art curriculum consisting of activities designed to engage all ages and ability levels. Has knowledge and comfort level using a variety of Art activities, (variety of art mediums, water color, oil pastels, paper mache, sculpting, etc.) Willing to organize arts and craft areas and distribute appropriate activities for the Create an efficient system for children to bring their projects home; encourage and inspire children to participate in the arts and craft program; provide an area for kids to create their own art during free time (painting, clay, etc.). Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor. Oversee and facilitate the inventory and ordering of all supplies. Other assigned duties as needed. Flexibility to work morning or afternoon shifts. Willingness to work for at least 4 Monday-Friday part time weeks out of the 5 weeks of operation. There will be additional hours available for planning, setup and breakdown of Summerfest. A minimum of 4 Hours of pre planning will be expected before Summerfest opens.
