About the Opportunity
Chelsea Piers is seeking to hire part-time Birthday Party and Event Staff members to join our team.
Chelsea Piers holds over 1,000 childrens sports-themed birthday parties, hundreds of field trips and many other events each year. Birthday Party and Event Staff members are dependable, energetic, and passionate about instructing children. As a Birthday Party and Event Staff member, you will be responsible for setting up the event space, facilitating activities and service and assisting our patrons and guests. It is your responsibility to ensure that each guest has a safe and fun experience by communicating all rules and engaging in activities and games.

Primary Responsibilities

Facilitate event activities for children ranging from age 3 to 15 years old.

Carefully monitor event to ensure safety and fun of all.

Communicate safety protocol and rules, and ensure compliance by all guests.

Implement event activities with children such as relay races, trampoline dodgeball, rock-climbing, batting cages and others.

Create a safe, fun environment for guests, engaging at all times.

Set up event area with paper goods, favors, cakes, special requests, etc.

Belay on the rock wall (Chelsea Piers certifies all staff, no prior experience required).

Serve food and drinks to events guests, if applicable.

Assist guests with direction to event areas and with carrying gifts and belongings if needed.

Assist guests with inquiries, issues and requests.

If needed, activate emergency procedures and provide assistance in regard to emergency situations, injuries, etc., ensuring safety of all event patrons.
Qualifications

Prior experience working with children in groups preferred.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to engage groups of all ages.

Must be able to work weekends.

Passion for sports is a plus.
Schedule: Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons; may be opportunity for outlier shifts for field trips and other events.
Compensation: $16 / hour
