In 2018, Chelsea Piers Fitness brought its commitment to world-class fitness to Downtown Brooklyn with its first stand-alone fitness facility.
Chelsea Piers Fitness now plans to open its latest extraordinary world-class fitness club in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn by the middle of 2023. Our goal is to create a place and environment that supports physical fitness, mental & spiritual health along with creative & cultural awareness. We aim to deliver the future of fitness, incorporating state-of-the art training options, boutique class experiences, an open workspace, modern design, cultural relevance, and an integrated café.
The Role:
The General Manager (GM) of Chelsea Piers Fitness Prospect Heights is a position designed for a versatile person that possesses exemplary leadership and supervisory skills, coupled with the ability to motivate staff, and encourage members who will drive the success of the club.
As the GM, you will oversee the clubs revenue and expense goals, administer the career development of the staff, and maintain Chelsea Piers Fitness standards for excellence in hospitality, cleanliness, and community building.
The GM will also be asked to prepare information and presentations for review by owners and the executive team of Chelsea Piers Fitness and will have direct oversight of: Operations, Hospitality & the Kids Clubhouse teams. The GM will also work closely with the Sales, Personal Training, Marketing, and Group Fitness teams to ensure that prospects and members always have a great experience. The GM will be required to have strong sales, operations, people management, and hospitality experience and the daily responsibilities will be centered around ensuring the club is always functioning at a high level.

- Manage and oversee the pre-sales office in conjunction with Sales Director
- Hiring, training, motivating, directing, coaching, and evaluating all club managers
- Ensuring that the club meets all of Chelsea Piers Fitness standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security, and physical plant operations as well as business and financial goals
- Maximizing member retention by ensuring high levels of customer service, variety of innovative events and responsiveness to member feedback
- Monitoring day-to-day operations with all managers and hourly staff
- Responsible for overall performance of clubs P&L
- Operate with ultimate authority on strategic & operational decisions in fitness club
- Be available to communicate with staff and or ensure there is always a manger on duty for any emergency club issues
- Ensure equipment and facility are safe and in compliance with all regulations
- Ensure excellent communication with both members and internal staff on all member programs and needs
- Establish excellent member satisfaction as the Chelsea Piers Fitness standard within all aspects of the club
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Comprehensive understanding of business KPIs, organization and strategy
- Strong team-leadership skills in a collaborative environment with the ability to motivate others
- Adaptable, flexible, and open to change
- Strong ability to embrace new technology and work with a suite of fitness software products
- High integrity, judgment, and decision-making
- Ability to multitask in constrained timeframe, work extended hours on short notice, make critical decisions and manage stress effectively
- Experience at a boutique fitness club or or gym / health club environment is a plus
- Passionate about the fitness industry
- Bachelors degree required; advanced degree a plus
- Must have flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule ability to work on nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- Vaccinated for COVID-19
