General
Responsibilities include:
- Identify new opportunities for CPf Yoga program such as:
- Innovative class ideas plus a deep understanding of program’s competition
- Proposals on potential equipment and studio upgrades
- Communicate with each site’s Hospitality, Fitness Concierge and Operations teams to carry out any necessary on-site tasks, including substitutions, technical issues, studio maintenance, and equipment needs.
- Work on Yoga Community Development audit Scheule with Evolve Director to collect data for our Monthly meetings and to pinpoint where our yoga community needs help.
- Maintain a strong presence in all clubs including during peak hours such as evenings and weekends, at various member events, and on social media
- Serve as a brand ambassador for Chelsea Piers Fitness
- Seek excellence and progress in all tasks
- Sharpen & develop Yoga core program using current structures and equipment
- Collaborate with Senior Group Fitness Manager to determine class schedules in all clubs
- Manage all substitutions, cancelations, and participant tracking (class effectiveness)
- Help develop new class styles, technology applications, and marketing initiatives to ensure that Yoga at Chelsea Piers Fitness is recognized as a leader in the Yoga industry
- This will be in conjunction with the Evolve Director and VP, Group Fitness
- Help create an engaging and diverse schedule that speaks to a broad member base
- Collaborate with Marketing to promote classes, special events, promotions, and more
- Work with Group Fitness Director to develop class & instructor guidelines and standards
- Train, mentor, evaluate, and manage instructor staff, including:
- Ensure all instructors implement an effective, engaging, on-brand Yoga experience
- Ensure all instructors adhere to expectations in Chelsea Piers Fitness & Group Fitness handbooks
- Assist with schedule management, substitutions, and evaluations
- Assist with social media outreach / marketing to help all instructors gain a following
- Recruit and develop group fitness talent
- Recruit diverse staff to reflect company and member needs
- Expand program / instructor knowledge base through trainings, workshops, and regular communications
- Maintain hiring and evaluation procedures
- Auditing and coaching instructors on teaching styles
- Serve as a lead instructor teaching at least two classes per week at 3 New York City locations
- Recommended teaching at least 10-12 classes per week (evenly split across three locations)
- Recommended to be in only 1 location per day to minimize travel time
- Develop a strong following across Chelsea Piers Fitness clubs through member engagement inside and outside of the studios
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have at least 500 hours of yoga training and 5 years of teaching group classes in Yoga and 3 years in a leadership position.
- Candidates must have at least 5 years of teaching group classes in Yoga and 3 years in a leadership position.
- Self-motivated/entrepreneurial spirit with an outgoing, diligent and affable disposition. Ability to adapt to change and a willingness to improve and evolve
- Superior customer service skills; excellent and clear communication skills, both verbal and written; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Organizational skills, including management of multiple projects and technologies; and a familiarity or willingness to learn Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Exerp
- High-energy, passionate, articulate and personable.
- Leadership skills and team management experience, including an ability to motivate and educate others
- Current Yoga 500 hr. Certifications, CPR and AED certification.
- Motivating, positive and encouraging demeanor.
- Must be able to lift 30 to 45 pounds or appropriate weight to lead session
