A newly independent healthcare company is seeking an Enterprise Architect to design and oversee the implementation of its IT architecture. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Enterprise Architect will play a pivotal role in transitioning to a standalone, healthcare-focused framework, ensuring scalability, security, and innovation in a $93 billion global addressable market.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Strategy**: Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture roadmap that supports goals of delivering breakthrough healthcare solutions, leveraging its $8.2 billion revenue base (2023) and 70 years of 3M healthcare innovation.
- System Design**: Create architectural frameworks for IT systems supporting MedSurg (wound care and surgical solutions), Dental Solutions (oral health products), Health Information Systems (clinical software), and Purification & Filtration (biopharma and medical filtration), ensuring interoperability and compliance with healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
- Transition Oversight**: Lead the migration of IT infrastructure from shared systems to independent environment, minimizing disruptions to operations and customer relationships during the multi-year disentanglement process.
- Technology Innovation**: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, cloud computing, data analytics) to enhance portfolio, such as improving Health Information Systems used in over 75% of U.S. hospitals or advancing purification membranes for 25 million annual dialysis treatments.
- Stakeholder Collaboration**: Partner with business leaders, including segment presidents and R&D teams, to align IT capabilities with market demands and repositioning for profitable growth.
- Governance & Standards**: Establish architecture policies and standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and cybersecurity across global operations, spanning 90 countries and 100,000 channel partners.
-Risk Mitigation**: Identify and address risks related to IT separation, legacy system dependencies, and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements, collaborating with legal and compliance teams.

Qualifications
- Education**: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree or certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP) strongly preferred.
- Experience**: 8 years in IT, with 4 years in enterprise architecture, preferably in healthcare, medtech, or a spinoff/transition environment. Experience with large-scale system migrations is a plus.
