Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operations Assistant to facilitate the smooth running of our warehousing operations.
Our ideal candidates must have a keen eye for detail, proficient organization skills, and a strong team-oriented work ethic.
The Warehouse Operations Assistant will be responsible for receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders. Also, be a self-starter with the ability to organize all incoming stock.
This position is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and maintaining warehouse safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in receiving and processing incoming stock and materials
- Pick and fill orders from stock, pack and ship orders, and manage and track inventory
- Maintain warehouse safety and cleanliness standards, including clearing workspaces of debris and hazardous materials
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on warehouse equipment
- Work closely with the warehouse manager and team to meet warehouse performance goals
- Assist in the organization of the warehouse layout for optimum efficiency
- Report any discrepancies in inventory records to the warehouse manager
- Ability to use warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, safely and efficiently.
- Help in loading and unloading trucks, checking in merchandise by means of receiving documents
- Respond to requests for information and access relevant files as required
- Perform inventory controls and keep quality standards high for audits
- Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
- Use warehouse management systems to manage and track inventory
- Work closely with the Warehouse Manager and other warehouse staff to ensure that all warehouse operations meet safety protocols and productivity standards
- At times, they may also liaise with transport companies or couriers to arrange pickups or deliveries.
- Organization skills to effectively manage and track inventory and warehouse supplies.
- Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks, including heavy lifting-up to 50 lbs, moving goods, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, inventory tracking, and use of warehouse management software.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues that may affect warehouse operations or inventory management.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with managers, co-workers, and truck drivers.
- Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of inventory records and the safety of warehouse operations.
- Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, adhering to the delivery and shipment schedules.
- Provide backup to the safety department including assigning training, random drug screening, etc. if safety management is unavailable.
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Warehouse Worker or similar role
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Current forklift license, or ability to be certified
- High school degree or equivalent
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
