- 2.3 Positions in charge / Puestos a cargo: Mechanic Levels I, II, III, and IV.
- 2.4 Temporary Replacement / Reemplazo temporal: Shop Manager
Main Objectives / Objetivos principales:
Coordinate and assign daily tasks to the mechanics according to the repair priorities.
- Ensure that the work orders are completed within the established timeframes.
- Monitor the progress of repairs and provide technical support when needed.Perform and revise final tests and checks on the units before they return to operation, accompanied by a mechanic.
Main Challenges / Retos Principales:
- Have the trucks ready on time
- Have the trailers ready on time
- Tire control (inventory and condition)
- Diesel tank control (diesel consumption)

Duties / Responsabilidades:
- Revise the Quick-lane inspection form submitted by Mechanic level II.
- Coordinate with dispatch for truck assignments and establish priorities for the work orders, ensuring the efficient departure of vehicles.
- Collect the “Driver Vehicle Inspection Report” with the guard daily.
- Coordinate and assign daily tasks according to the repair priorities.
- Ensure that the work orders are completed within the established timeframes.
- Monitor the progress of repairs and provide technical support when necessary.
- Conduct final tests and inspections on the units before they return to operation.
- Review the mileage for upcoming preventive maintenance tasks.
- Manage truck and trailer inspections to renew the annual inspection with Yvan.
- Maintain an updated diesel inventory for restocking with suppliers.
- Assign trucks that need preventive or corrective maintenance.
- Review the diesel indicator of each truck to ensure it’s below ¼ when arriving at the CHEMAS yard.
- Verify that all trucks have DEF/diesel before departure.
- Monitor the diesel and DEF tanks for weekly replenishment verification.
- Coordinate with handling of trucks during maintenance, washing, and release processes.
- Manage the inventory of new and retreaded tires.
- Ensure that all repairs and maintenance meet quality standards.
- Supervise the proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure that mechanics follow safety procedures in the workshop.
Authority / Autoridad:
- Stop any process that may jeopardize safety or service quality.
- Authorize tire changes.
Competence profile / Perfil de Competencia:
- 8.1 Education / Educación: University and/or College level degree or equivalent.
- 8.2 Language / Idioma: English and Spanish required
- 8.3 Training / Formación:
- Mechanic
- Administration
- Know OSHA regulations
- 8.4 Experience / Experiencia:
- Work experience in the transportation industry or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in the position
- Experience in leading a team of 5 individuals.
- Be familiar with TPM and 5S training.
