What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Supervisor position at Chemico, LLC?
Oversees entire warehouse ensuring productivity of all areas and support functions. Ensures that safety guidelines are followed throughout the facility. Also ensures that orders arrive and are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities. Troubleshoots problems and ensures that established policies and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Coordinates, conducts, and documents the receipt and issue of all chemicals in accordance with chemical compatibility and all applicable internal policies and governmental requirements.
- Processes and procedures shall include receiving HW at collection point, inspection, containerization, packaging, preparation of documentation, and coordination with HW disposal activities and local Environmental offices.
- Performs inspections to ensure compliance with all Federal and local regulations.
- Uses HMMS in the performance of the requirements.
- Accomplishes warehouse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
- Applies advanced skills to coordinate, conduct, and document the internal waste tracking program prior to sorting and packaging.
- Coordinates, conducts, and documents the sorting, packaging, and disposal of all chemical wastes in accordance with chemical compatibility and all applicable internal policies and governmental requirements. Serves as a resource to lower levels in the resolution of non-routine and/or complex problems and issues.
- Ensures the proper packaging and shipping of all HM/HW in accordance with all applicable requirements by interpreting and applying site guidelines, local, state and federal regulations.
- Provides guidance to lower levels, peers, and management on technical issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal environmental procedures and policies, and internal environmental training. Reviews new and current local, state and Federal environmental regulations related to chemical and waste management across the site and to waste shipping and disposal to recommend and implement compliance activities.
- May assist and/or coordinate site wide spill response and clean-up activities.
- Serves as a resource to lower levels in the resolution of non-routine and/or complex problems and issues.
- Conducts data entry and tracking paperwork for receipt of materials.
- Meets warehouse financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
- Moves inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments.
- Delivers chemical supplies and equipment to departments by receiving and transferring items through the use of electronic tracking systems.
- Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
- Maintains inventory by conducting physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
- Secures warehouse and equipment.
- Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical manuals and publications.
- Accomplishes warehouse and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Fully complies with the company’s safety instructions and procedures, including timely reporting of any accidents, injuries or incidents involving physical injury or illness.
Job Requirements:
- Associate Degree from an accredited 2-year college or university with a major in Chemical Management or related field.
- 4 years of progressive experience with chemical management, supply chain management or equivalent work experience.
- Must successfully pass a standard federal background check (NACI).
- Requires extensive knowledge of HM/HW processes, packaging, manifesting, and collection/temporary storage procedures.
- Requires extensive knowledge of HM/HW compatibility requirements, and the rules and regulations governing the packaging, labeling, and storage of HW; including manifesting, profiling/coding, and record keeping.
- Must be able to learn and develop new areas of subject matter expertise and have the ability to attain program specific certifications as needed.
- Extensive and thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations & requirements related to chemical management and transportation.
- Effective written and oral communication and negotiation skills.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills in order to manage a variety of tasks with maximum efficiency and timeliness.
- Effective team leading abilities including leadership, negotiation, organizational, planning, prioritization, and resource allocation skills.
- Requires use of Microsoft Office suite packages and advanced computer skills that are applicable to work assignments.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and to move materials with the assistance of material handling equipment.
- RCRA, CVI and DOT certifications required and may be obtained upon selection.
- Requires a valid State of Texas driver’s license and skill in safely operating forklift.
