Position Overview :
Chemonics International seeks a Sr. Associate for Benefits. The Benefits Sr. Associate is responsible for day-to-day operations of group benefits programs while ensuring compliance with federal and state law. The associate will assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions, coordinates all insurance billing and invoice reconciliation, and maintains employee database and files.
Responsibilities :
- Provide support to staff regarding administration of benefit programs including, but not limited to, group health, dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401K, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and leave
- Serve as initial point of contact for enrollment assistance in Employee Self-Service (ESS) for new hires and employees experiencing qualifying life events
- Conduct audits and reconciliations of health and welfare plans to ensure the accuracy of monthly invoices; identifies issues and resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives and / or Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Payroll
- Conduct benefits orientations and trains new hires on how to use the ESS portal
- Monitor ESS to ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction
- Organize and manage internal-facing events including annual enrollment, and benefits fair
- Provide complex customer support in all benefit programs including, but not limited to, claim resolution, protected leave case management, and workers compensation (including DBA) claims
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of communication to large employee groups or staff including annual disclosures for distribution to staff
- Support benefits-related research as needed and prepares ad hoc reports upon request
- Assist with developing and updating policies as necessary
- Stay abreast of state and federal leave requirements and ensures company compliance with the provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (and corresponding amendments), the Employee Retirement Income Act, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Department of Labor. Responsible for current and accurate state statutory Workers’ Compensation laws and OSHA reporting requirements
- Build knowledge of benefits regulations policies, and best practices, through industry membership affiliations
- Perform other duties as required
