About the job position
The primary function of the Warehouse Process Helper is to plan and coordinate the activities of the shipping & receiving area, by filling requisitions, and work orders, greeting customers, and helping in process lines when for different departments to help improve overall departmental processes and services.
Job Duties
- Plan, organize, and monitor the storage and distribution of all items shipping going out
- Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and/or shipped.
- Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Sorts counts, and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for services and distributes items to shipping or to designated route driver staging area.
- Ensuring the warehouse is accessible, clean, and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
- Prepares & records items shipped or received via appropriate computer program (i.e. UPS, FedEx, Visual, etc.)
- Inventories department supplies and completes requisition forms to order supplies.
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery/pickup and shipping/receiving operations.
- Operate all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including forklift, pallet jacks, etc. in accordance with OSHA and company safety program requirements.
- Maintain and protect all property entrusted in excellent condition, including electronic devices.
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall Shipping operations and fill in the receiving area as needed.
- Visually inspects product prior to racking while notifying the Team Leader/Supervisor of any non-conformances.
- Verify job card is correct and the previous operation is completed.
- Rack, un-rack, and package customer parts per the work order or supervisory instructions
- Able to do some minor masking and unmasking of parts.
- Follow technique and card instructions to rack and unrack parts.
- Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed
Educational and Work Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times. Two or more years of shipping & receiving experience in a non-warehouse environment.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
- Ability to alternate standing and sitting for 8 hours.
- Ability to see or correct to 20/20.
- Ability to hear.
- Ability to distinguish color (pass a colorblind test).
- Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms.
- Ability to stoop and bend.
- Ability to use arms and hands.
