JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer III will develop products, equipment, and systems/subsystems with electronic parts and assemblies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Proactively manages area of responsibility to execute to plan and, where variances exist, develops and implements corrective action plans to complete within commitments.
- Applies creativity and electrical design concepts to system solutions.
- Determines the technical approach by developing and trading off design concepts that satisfy requirements and constraints.
- Supports design, integration, and testing of the electronic subsystems used in detection systems. Subsystems include ruggedized custom electronic assemblies and Commercial Off-The Shelf (COTS) electronic assembly integration.
- Participates in new design development and maintains existing products, working on obsolescence issues, test issues, board yield issues, and failure root cause and corrective action investigations as required.
- Participates as a reviewer or presenter in formal design reviews, and peer reviews, of electrical requirements and designs.
- Performs electrical engineering testing in laboratory environment.
- Communicates with the project team, labs and suppliers, customers and functional management.
- Performs formal problem root cause analysis and corrective action planning and execution.
- Performs requirements analysis, hardware interface definition, and design of embedded system architectures.
- Provides support for and executes hardware and software integration and test.
- Supports all aspects of project initiatives to conclusion, within cost and schedule constraints.

Requirements
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in the design, integration, and validation of electronic equipment.
- Educational or work experience in high speed digital, sensor interface (A/D, D/A, signal conditioning, etc.), analog control, and embedded processor (i.e. DSP, uContoller) design.
- Educational or work experience with electronic equipment grounding, shielding, and thermal management design.
- Educational or work experience with high density, low power electronics packaging as well as Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design preferred.
- Knowledge of military specifications and standards (e.g. MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, etc.) preferred.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
- Proficient with schematic capture tools. Experience with Altium software tools desired.
- Must have a work ethic that enthusiastically persists until project goals are achieved.
- Highly technical, hands-on engineer who has a passion for technology.
- Manage engineering changes effectively and efficiently.
- Proven record of delivering products on schedule and within budget.
- Results-oriented team player who leads by example.
- Self-accountable for performance.
- High proficiency in written and oral communication.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer and extended periods of sitting at CAD workstation.
