Job Description
Position: Sales Account Manager
Primary Location: Home Based - Calgary/Edmonton Corridor, Alberta, Canada
Schedule: Monday to Friday, necessary travel throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Pacific Northwest (Approximately 50% total travel)
Reports To: Sales Director-Northeast
Compensation: CAD 110-140 K base salary benefits bonus
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

About This Role and You
The purpose of this integral and exciting role is to provide account management to customers primarily located in Alberta and Saskatchewan in water treatment, pulp & paper, oil sands, oil & gas and chemical distribution selling a broad range of Sulphur based, chloralkaline and electrochemical products. This position is largely focused on water treatment and requires technical and product application knowledge as well as advanced skills selling to senior management and negotiating multimillion dollar agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Technical Sales Representation for assigned Water Treatment Customers and Prospects, Services and Products.
- Manage key Distributor, pulp & paper and oil & gas relationships.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies in support of defined product and business plans and objectives.
- Maintain ongoing market knowledge and product knowledge, competing alternative products and new uses for Chemtrade products.
- Seek out and quantify new Water Treatment Opportunities within Western Canada with a particular emphasis on oil sands.
- Assist Business Directors & Business Managers in development of annual Business Plan and periodic updates (Latest Estimates), continually monitor performance, understand, articulate and act on variances as required.
- Understand detailed marketplace pricing, products and competitive threats.
- Work with Product Coordinators and Customer Support Specialists in providing ongoing logistics support and representation to customers.
- Develop & implement written strategies for key accounts
- High quality and timely CRM reporting per established guidelines and assigned KPI’s
What You Need To Be Successful
- 7 -10 years of experience in a business development and/or sales capacity with a large, well-established chemical, refinery or industrial services operation preferred.
- 3-5 years of technical experience, engineering experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to forge strong customer relationships.
- Thorough understanding and experience in negotiating technical, complex and long cycle contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver performance. Must be able to work independently.
- Related Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Environmental Sciences or a Business Degree supplemented with technical experience or training. MBA would be considered a strong asset.
- Solid written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive, with a hands-on approach, the candidate will have the ability to formulate long-term strategies and plans while delivering on day-to-day objectives.
- Excellent analytical skills required for business analysis, case studies, market understanding and evaluation, other strategic initiatives, Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP.
- Must be willing to travel up to 50%
