Typical Job Duties include:
Conducts regular inspections of airfield runways, taxiways, lighting, and security;
-Inspects tenant and concessionaire leased areas, and all public areas of roadways, parking lots, and grounds;
-Maintains regular contact with airport tenants, aeronautical users, FAA, and other County departments involved with the airports;
-Observes and reports on airport maintenance and construction projects;
-Prepares and maintains all required reports relating to field conditions, equipment status & training;
-Handles lost and found items for airport users; Coordinates tours of the Airport;
-Provides information & assistance to the general public;
-Monitors the airport communications center;
-Assists training airport personnel in the areas of Crash-Fire & Rescue & medical first aid
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from High School or possession of an equivalency diploma and either:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university, or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant an Associate’s Degree or higher or;
B. Two (2) years of airport security or airport operations management experience at an airport with scheduled air service.
C .Two (2) years of full-time aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), structural firefighting, or other closely related experience.
Note: 30 credits of college may be substituted for (1) year of airport or firefighting experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
(A)Must successfully complete the required training for certification in CPR, Aircraft Rescue, and Fire Fighting within twelve (12) months of appointment and maintain certification throughout employment.
(B)Must successfully complete the FAR 139.319 required minimum of 40 hours in medical training as designated by the Airport Curriculum within twelve (12) months of appointment.
(C)Must possess a valid New York State Class D Driver’s License at the time of appointment. License must be maintained throughout employment.
