Community Diversity and Inclusion Director

CHEMUNG COUNTY IS ACTIVELY SEEKING A PART TIME COMMUNITY DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION DIRECTOR

This position involves responsibility for the direction of a County-wide program concerned with eliminating discrimination and prejudice and developing and executing diversity and inclusion programs.

Typical Work Activities:

• Develop standards and procedures to conduct investigations of discrimination complaints to ascertain if the Commission has jurisdiction over the complaint and if the complaint has merit;
• Administers, coordinates and implements programs, policies and procedures of the Commission to prevent discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing accommodations, commercial space and land transactions, and in the issuance of credit;
• Assess and develop initiatives to create diversity and cross-cultural inclusion programs in Chemung County;
• Plans, develops, organizes, directs, administers and coordinates the Human Relations Commission's total inter-group relations program to lessen and eliminate discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, alienage or citizenship, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status or disability;
• Directs the promotion of public understanding of the objectives of the department;
• Presents Commission policies to, and enlists the cooperation of, various community organizations, business community, individuals, ethnic groups, labor organizations, religious groups, local officials, and other groups;
• Establishes and maintains a working relationship with business and industrial firms, labor, governmental units, civic groups, employment and social agencies, schools, churches, real estate and other professional associations;
• Other Duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
