Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and dependable Pipeline Corrosion Tech to join our team in the San Juan basin. The Pipeline Corrosion Technician is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and maintaining pipeline integrity to prevent corrosion-related failures. This role involves conducting field inspections, collecting data, troubleshooting corrosion issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and surveys to assess pipeline corrosion levels.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot cathodic protection (CP) systems.
- Conduct close-interval surveys (CIS), direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) surveys, and alternating current voltage gradient (ACVG) surveys.
- Collect and analyze soil resistivity, pH, and environmental conditions that contribute to corrosion.
- Evaluate coating conditions and recommend repairs or replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and compliance reports.
- Work closely with engineers, operators, and regulatory agencies to ensure pipeline integrity.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including NACE, DOT, PHMSA, and API standards.
- Assist in pipeline integrity management programs (IMP) and risk assessments.
- Respond to corrosion-related issues and provide technical support to field personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
- NACE/AMPP certification (CP1, CP2, or higher) preferred.
- Experience with corrosion control techniques and cathodic protection systems.
- Proficiency in using multimeters, data loggers, and CP test equipment.
- Understanding of pipeline coatings and material science.
- Ability to interpret pipeline maps, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in outdoor and remote environments.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
Work Conditions:
- Outdoor fieldwork in harsh weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, and dust).
- Frequent driving between well sites; company vehicle may be provided.
- On-call availability for emergency response and after-hours operations.
- Physical demands include walking, standing, and occasional lifting of equipment.
Schedule:
- Typical work schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off, 8-12 hour shifts (subject to change based on operational needs).
- On-call rotation is required for after-hours call-outs and emergency responses.
- Overtime may be required depending on workload and field conditions.
