As one of the newest Chenega companies, Chenega Defense & Aerospace Solutions (CDAS) was developed with the purpose of providing expert Engineering and Technical Support Services to federal customers.

The Information Technology Specialist will do the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents.
  • Research, evaluate, and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
  • Develop and maintain problem tracking and resolution databases.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain customer hardware and software.
  • Provide customer training as needed as well as technical training for subordinate staff.
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of customer support services.
  • Develop local standards and ensures compliance with SSP, DON, and DoD standards; and provides technical guidance for development and implementation of new or improved IT system technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with written instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Keep employees informed on management goals and objectives as well as of changes in regulations, policies, and procedures governing the work.
  • Keep leadership informed of IT/IM projects and services.
  • Serve as a liaison between local management, SSP CIO, and contracting partners concerning IT projects within SPS.
  • Provide feedback to leadership and stakeholders through appropriate reports, meetings, briefings, and information papers, both formally and informally.
  • Regularly brief senior staff on project status and significant developments.
  • Keep all parties informed of project status, changes in requirements, changes in resources, and impacts on meeting established project timelines, tasks, milestones, and objectives.
  • Assist with customer relationship management with focus on keeping customers informed of pertinent issues, projects and emerging technologies.
  • Research best practices for improved IT problem resolution.
  • Oversee computer system administration efforts including planning, installation, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of network communications, messaging, application service, helpdesk and operating systems software.
  • Evaluate communications network software, hardware, bandwidth, communications link, and installations.
  • Serve as a local technical advisor on communications systems, classified/unclassified voice/data networks, and circuit actions.
  • Continually analyze and recommends improvements in hardware or software configuration to enhance user responses, overall system, trouble ticketing, and data integrity.
  • Recommend new or proposed hardware, applications, data management, and utility software.
  • Provide technical advice on the capabilities and limitations of standard systems.
  • Manage technical aspects of implementation, use, maintenance, and support of standard systems.
  • Plan, install, test, and implement new hardware and software releases.
  • Direct application of software patches and security enhancements.
  • Serve as point of contact for Pittsfield for the EKMS Local Element User (LE); performing inventories, monthly required readings/audits and spot checks as directed by SSP.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IA/CS plans, policies, and standards; establishes and, as appropriate, automates standardized IA/CS processes; leverages IA/CS resources to meet SPS needs; advises the ISSM on IA/CS policy, procedures, issues, threats, incident response, requirements, resources, and solutions.
  • Specific duties of the position may include; planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and internally/externally coordinating SPS’s IA/CS program and strategies (e.g. the organization workforce IA/CS training program or IA audit program). Duties also include cyber risk and strategic analysis; cyber incident response; cyber related infrastructure inter-dependency analysis.
  • The incumbent tracks IA/CS initiatives; reviews DOD/DON/SSP policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
  • Monitors vulnerability reporting; monitors and enforces IA/CS policies and solutions, including researching new technologies to counter evolving threats and sharing lesson learned.
  • Review and evaluate IA/CS solutions recommended by Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Navy (DoN), SSP, industry, and from other organizations within and outside SSP and recommends adopting solutions based on applicability to SPS IT Systems Architecture and IA/CS Policy, requirements, and level of threat to the SSP CIO office; Exercise sound judgment to formulate, evaluate and correlate IA/CS requirements.
  • Serve as an advisor on system incident recovery, cyber threats, Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF), disaster recovery, IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM), Information
  • Condition (INFOCON), Navy Cyber Defense Operational Command (NCDOC), Computer Tasking Order (CTO), and Certification and Accreditation (C&A) reporting compliance to SSP CIO Office for updates to Fleet Cyber Command (FCC).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years’ experience on IT-related projects
  • Security certification required
  • Secret clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and skill in applying Information Assurance and Cyber Security technology processes and related guidelines, policies and procedures is required in order to develop an effective and efficient integrated environment for SPS/SSP and the assigned program/project/product managers.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying: IT systems security principles, concepts, and methods; and the infrastructure protection environment sufficient to develop long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to interpret continually emerging guidance and direction, including specific timelines, from Congress, DoD, DoN, and SSP concerning the transition to a paperless operation in order to determine impact and implementation requirements within SPS.
  • Broad, general knowledge and understanding of Information Technology as a whole, i.e. areas such as desktop support, mobile devices, network management, operating systems, software, troubleshooting techniques, etc.; sufficient to advise the command on a wide range of IT issues.
  • Knowledge of the SSP and Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) collaboration environment and the larger DoN and DoD environments in which it must function.
  • Knowledge of systems and operational concepts employed in state-of-the-art information assurance applications to enhance secure interoperability amongst SSP and FBM Partners.
  • Skill in the coordination of Information Assurance plans as they relate to SPS operations.
  • Mastery of and skill in applying: cyber security policy and planning concepts and practices sufficient to support the development of an enterprise IT modernization plan. Must be able to move/lift normal office equipment and computing equipment up to 50 lbs.
