What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman / Lead Sheet Metal Fabricator position at Cheney Flashing?
Cheney Flashing, LLC is a sheet metal and anchor fabrication business with a specialty in commercial construction products including building envelope waterproofing, masonry anchors and roofing. Cheney is a family owned and operated business that prides itself in taking care of its employees. We are seeking to fill a role for a full-time Experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator in our Beltsville, MD facility.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- fabrication of complex thin gauge sheet metal corners, end dams, scuppers, gutters and various profile designs
- ability to comfortably program and operate Roper Whitney Auto Brakes, Press Brake, Shears, Iron Workers, Soldering Irons, Angle Grinders, Band Saw.
- factory operations (i.e. managing employees, helping push orders through fabrication, shipping, receiving, etc...)
- inventory management and liaising between the front office for ordering needs of raw materials
- shearing and fabricating orders, maintaining orderly shop working environment
- operating forklift
- overseeing daily freight shipping
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following:

- understanding of basic mathematical concepts
- willingness to work and learn in both an office and factory setting
In addition, the following attributes would be a plus:
- General understanding of masonry / construction / engineering / architecture industry(s)
- Ability to weld
- Bi-lingual (Spanish)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
