POSITION OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Technician, Electrical reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical and is a member of the multi-disciplined crew responsible for all maintenance activities of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import, export and regasification terminal. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures are essential for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the terminal.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs the duties of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal Maintenance Technician, Electrical on a regularly scheduled shift, sometimes including overtime, holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Maintains electrical equipment on all pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, unloading arms, plant distribution systems etc.
- Maintains the facility recognizing the environmental consequences of actions taken and striving for the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
- Records maintenance data and informs Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; Works with Supervisor to expeditiously resolve problems and improve plant reliability and safety.
- Collaborate with reliability and engineering to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data and support improvement recommendations.
- Perform highly skilled installation, commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of breakers, relays, starters, transformers, motor control centers, overloads, disconnects, generators, automatic transfer switches, and other industrial electrical systems.
- Performs work from instructions using electrical drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Works with engineering to perform switching and LOTO’s to facilitate other maintenance activities.
- Performs all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge:
Understands plant surroundings and can identify relevant equipment. Understands the physical properties of LNG. Possess basic knowledge of safe handling practices, governmental regulations, and related technical and safety codes, standards, and reporting requirements. Knowledgeable of plant rules and guidelines regarding relevant equipment operations and certification requirements. In-depth knowledge of plant maintenance protocols and equipment diagnostics.
Skills:
- An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
- Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues, compliance with policies, and procedures are all essential for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the terminal.
- Able to follow directions and quickly formulate and effectively communicate questions if clarification of an assignment is required.
- Able to apply existing skills in new roles and or environments.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer savvy, including Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude for learning new software applications and systems.
- Able to use key features of relevant software to perform job duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Training and Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Formal education in related technical or engineering discipline or related military training/experience is desirable. Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, and LNG firefighting.
Craft Skill: Must be able to obtain electrical qualifications in both High and Low Voltage NFPA 70E.
Experience: 0-7 years of relevant work experience or equivalent time worked in an industrial or military setting is required. Experience in LNG or other petrochemical, refinery, cryogenic industry is a plus.

WORK CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
- Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200 steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
- Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
- Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, and LNG firefighting.
- All responsibilities must be met in a call-out environment, including holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card issued by the Transportation Security Administration and must maintain good standing status.
- Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
