Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Plant Controller, the Associate/Staff Accountant is responsible for recording and analyzing the site’s financial transactions, including recognition of monthly financial accounting transactions, updates to forecast spend, and preparation of cost analysis and reporting. This role will support the operational aspects of Cheniere’s growing liquefaction platform, utilizing financial data to provide insight to assist operational and financial decision-making within the business.
The position allows an opportunity to develop operational and financing competencies at one of Cheniere’s two liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Responsibilities And Essential Duties
- Support our month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintenance of month-end reconciliations in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Perform monthly variance analysis and accounting research to confirm accuracy, validity, completeness and presentation of financial activity, including project-specific activities.
- Complete monthly spare parts inventory checks and cycle count settlement activities.
- Gather information from other departments to understand and assess accounting and financial implications of non-recurring financial transactions.
- Assist in the forecasting and analysis of project and departmental costs for monthly presentation.
- Engage with a variety of stakeholders to perform the functions of accounting, financial reporting and forecasting.
- Participate in other projects to assist operational and financial decision-making.
- The duties and responsibilities described above are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time, or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or a related field of study is required. Certified Public Accountant license (CPA) or active pursuit of a CPA license is preferred.
- Experience:
- Associate: 0-2 years’ experience in Corporate Accounting, Operations/Plant Accounting, external auditing, and/or forecasting and budgeting. Pipeline and Oil & Gas Accounting experience preferred.
- Staff: 2-4years’ experience in Corporate Accounting, Operations/Plant Accounting, external auditing, and/or forecasting and budgeting. Pipeline and Oil & Gas Accounting experience preferred. Applicable experience, education, certifications, skills and training may be considered with less experience.
- Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Understanding of Oracle ERP system
- Use of Hyperion Essbase/SmartView and Hyperion Planning
- Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere
- Able to interact with all levels of management
- Commitment to customer service
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

- Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
- Occasionally, work may be performed after normal work hours or on weekends.
