POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Engineer, Mechanical reports to the Superintendent, Mechanical and is the technical steward for fixed equipment, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and mechanical systems, and is accountable for supporting maintenance and improving these systems including all associated documentation. The Senior Engineer, Mechanical will participate and provide discipline expertise to less experienced support staff in engineering design, maintenance, and production activities.
This is a Non-DOT position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serves as the Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems technical specialist and provides daily Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems support to the plant to keep the plant systems safe and operational. Ensure tracking availability and determine the overall reliability for the Static equipment throughout the plant
- Uses sound engineering practices to provide guidance and application to plant standards and specifications to develop cost effective solutions for Static Equipment and Mechanical engineering issues. Ensuring that documentation for the Static Equipment and Mechanical systems are maintained properly. Provides guidance and development of documentation standards including updates to the unit operating manuals. Participate in the Management of Change process. Develop and use computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develop documentation.
- Provides technical support for maintenance planning and maintenance teams. Provides assistance to maintenance and operations groups on reliability issues when they occur; must be able to have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems.
- Serves as a plant liaison on Static Equipment and Mechanical System engineering issues (not limited to risk engineering, system integrity and applicability to specifications, philosophies and standards). Provides technical support to other groups, by understanding and interpreting codes, standards and regulations that are equipment related.
- Coordinates and develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects. Provide technical guidance during development and construction, support the Project Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending.
- Develops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant in order to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.
- Reinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations. Ensure the development or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.
- Support the efforts of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Manager, and Warehouse Supervisor in developing equipment spare parts requirements as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
Knowledge :
Applies general knowledge of LNG production, transportation, storage and loading, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Practices and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems, national codes, standards and regulations, and their implementation in operating facilities.
Skills :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Training and Certifications : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable. A Professional Engineers License is desirable.
Experience :
Senior Engineer, Mechanical : At least Five (5 ) years’ experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
