POSITION OVERVIEW
The Staff Engineer, Environmental will be based in Houston, TX, and will be considered a subject matter expert in multi-media (Air Quality, Water Quality, and Waste Management) Environmental Compliance. This role will be responsible for providing multi-media environmental subject matter expertise and program management across company assets. The Staff Engineer, Environmental is responsible for the development of environmental management systems supporting LNG Operations & Maintenance, Pipeline Operations, and Engineering Teams and providing guidance to ensure programs and activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, permits, company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Staff Engineer, Environmental will primarily be responsible for design, implementation, oversight, assurance and continuous improvement of environmental management systems and programs.
The Staff Engineer, Environmental will :
- Serve on Cheniere’s Corporate HSE Team as a senior contributor and subject matter expert in environmental compliance, closely collaborating with site environmental teams to align and effectively implement company standards and practices to achieve and maintain the highest level of compliance with regulatory and permit requirements through all stages of construction and operation.
- Provide technical review of environmental regulatory reports, including but not limited to; Title V Semi-annual deviation reports, Annual Compliance Certifications, Greenhouse Gas Annual Reports, Emission Inventories, Discharge Monitoring Reports, and Annual Waste Summaries.
- Take a lead role in the regulatory tracking process including development and communication of risk / impact analysis for environmental related regulations and legislative actions.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to identify technology, equipment, or methods to lessen environmental footprint of Company operations.
- Be responsible for maintaining environmental standards, procedures, and other key management systems within the Cheniere Integrated Management System (CIMS).
- Review and analyze environmental data to identify key trends that can be leveraged in the development of continuous improvement programs.
- Serve as Cheniere’s environmental representative on select industry trade associations and committees.
- Liaise with Company Climate and Sustainability group as a subject matter expert.
- Support the preparation of the annual Corporate Responsibility Report.
- Assist with “front-end” compliance planning of major projects.
- Lead and / or participate in the audit and functional verification of environmental compliance programs and standards.
- Participate in incident investigations, supporting the identification of root and contributing causes and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

FREEDOM TO ACT
The Staff Engineer, Environmental has a high degree of aptitude in their field and requires minimal supervision. This position will be empowered to recommend corrective actions or changes as needed. Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere; must exercise discretion independently.
