What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Chequamegon Food Co-op?
Purpose: To safely pick up and deliver milk and baked goods to provide fresh, timely product and meet goals for labor and customer service.
Status: Reports to General Manager/Store Operations Manager
Works closely with Grocery and Deli Managers
Pay level: II
CHEQUAMEGON CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INTERNAL SERVICE BASICS FOR ALL STAFF
· Provide excellent customer service to our shoppers, making the customer’s needs your priority whenever on the sales floor or answering the phone.
· Share information with our shoppers about co-op happenings, educational opportunities, and the benefits of co-op membership.
· Provide excellent internal customer service to all staff members, maintaining an attitude of goodwill toward yourself and others.
· Help create a work environment that is cooperative, fun, productive, and safe, and that focuses on solutions instead of problems.

Responsibilities:
PICK–UP/DELIVERIES
A. Check accuracy of orders before leaving the store.
B. Pick up milk, baked goods and prepared foods orders following route and schedule set by Grocery Manager.
C. Check piece counts against purchase orders and invoices.
D. Check products for damage, quality problems.
E. Unload, price and stock deliveries. Rotate overstock into storage.
F. Represent the co-op to maintain a positive, helpful company image.
G. Drive safely
MAINTENANCE
A. Inspect fluid levels in delivery vehicle regularly. Report mechanical problems promptly to Operations Manager.
B. Report accidents promptly to Operations Manager/General Manager, fill out paperwork for insurance.
C. Keep track of and maintain hand-trucks, ramps and other delivery and receiving equipment.
D. Make appointments and take vehicle for repairs and service as needed.
E. Report and account for gas and other expenses accurately and promptly.
STOCKING
A. Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves.
B. Rotate older stock to front, making space for new stock.
C. Pull short-date or low-quality items and follow established procedures for recording and disposing of them.
D. Label items accurately with price tags, signs or scale labels. Report price discrepancies to Department Manager.
E. Maintain stocking lists for later shifts. Notify Department Manager of out-of-stocks.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITEIS
Perform other tasks assigned by Store Operations Manager.
Attend personal and storewide meetings and trainings
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid state drivers license and clean driving record
- Experience serving the public
- Familiarity with natural foods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to handle multiple demands
- Accuracy, attention to detail
- Regular predictable attendance
- Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing requirements of the job.
- Available to work nights and weekends.
