What are the responsibilities and job description for the Store Cleaner position at Chequamegon Food Co-op?
Purpose: To maintain the store and outdoor areas of the co-op in clean, safe, orderly condition, following the direction of the General or Store Operations Manager.
Status: Reports to General Manager.
Pay Level: $14-$18
STORE MAINTENANCE/CLEANING
A. Follow schedule for regular daily cleaning. This may include, but is not limited to, dust- mop/sweep floors, scrub all surfaces, clean glass, and clean refrigerated cases, hand mopping, use of floor machine, vacuuming, dusting, etc.
B. Take out trash and recycling, flatten cardboard.
C. Preform extra cleaning tasks on a rotating schedule or as assigned.
D. While cleaning pays attention to state of building and equipment, and alerts GM to potential problems.
E. Keep maintenance work areas clean and organized. Secure all potential safety hazards.
F. Remain attentive to customers shopping experience while cleaning in the store.
G. Maintains store security.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
A. Assist customers with product questions, in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
B. Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Perform other tasks assigned by GM/Store Operations Manager.
Attend department meetings, trainings, inventories and all-staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience serving the public.
- Familiarity with natural foods.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. continuously.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions during shift.
- Ability to handle multiple demands.
- Accuracy, attention to detail.
- Regular predictable attendance.
- Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing requirements of the job.
- Available to work nights and weekends.
