What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Counselor position at Cherokee County Family YMCA?
The Cherokee County YMCA is looking for qualified individuals who will assist in the successful operation of the After School program.
Hours: This job will be Monday through Friday from 2:00PM until 6:00PM.
Responsibilities: Ensure the health, safety and well being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. Supervise, participate in, and administer recreational activities for children. Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the After School program. Plan activities and events that are exciting, challenging and values based. Work cooperatively with professional staff, counselors and other departments. Create and maintain daily lessons plans and attendance. Assist children with homework and guide students in their academic growth. Communicate with families, on a weekly basis, about their children’s strengths and areas needing attention. Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older; High School diploma; Minimum of one years of experience working with children and planning activities in a group setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications (if not current, we can provide the means to get he/she certified).
