Position: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Program Director
Job Description
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Sports/Aquatics Coordinator assists with the planning, marketing, managing, and implementation of all sports programs including but not limited to basketball, volleyball, baseball, flag football, soccer, cheerleading, and other programs/duties as needed. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of sports and aquatics programming. This will include success, growth, and new program development. During the summer months, the Sports/Aquatics Coordinator will oversee the aquatics department.
Qualifications
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
· Minimum one-year related experience preferred, including experience in running leagues.
· Minimum age of 21.
· Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR; First Aid; AED.
· Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications including lifeguard certification.
· Actively works to continue to recruit diverse volunteers.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
· Ability to maintain positive relationships with parents, community members, co-workers, subordinate staff, and volunteers.
· Dynamic personality with a skill set that is able to motivate the program participants to learn teamwork, values of the Y when playing a sport, and improvement of skill sets.
Essential Functions
1. Recruit, train, organize, develop and manage all volunteer coaches.
2. Assists and assumes a leadership role in implementing programs and schedules.
3. Ensures the reliability and safety of all program sites.
4. Maintains all records of enrolled children in each program.
5. Maintains consistent, continuing, and accurate communication with Program Director and member services staff concerning program issues, supplies, schedule changes, staffing, participant concerns and other pertinent information.
6. Maintains effective and timely communication with staff and parents regarding program news, changes and other necessary information.
7. Coordinate/supervise coach’s meetings and training sessions.
8. Actively promotes the sports programs in the community and schools.
9. Works effectively with community organizations to collaborate in the delivery of YMCA programs.
10. Assists with developing and submitting periodic program promotional material for marketing efforts to include: newspaper articles, promotional brochures, flyers and PSA’s.
11. Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position with the guidance of the Program Director. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
12. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices.
13. Creates teams from the registrations of each program.
14. Oversight of daily pool operations.
15. Assists the Director in hiring, training, and supervision of all necessary personnel to deliver each program component.
16. Coordinates scheduling of aquatics staff to provide proper program delivery.
17. Responsible for filling gaps in lifeguard and swim instructor schedule.
18. Any other duties assigned.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
