Minimum Qualifications
A valid Georgia Educator Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; ESOL Certification; Leadership Certification preferred. Three years of experience working with English learner program services. Bilingual skills required; multilingual preferred.
Goal
Provide transitional support services to international, immigrant, migrant, refugee and non-native English-speaking students and their families.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the daily operation of the International Welcome Center

Manages and schedules the interpretation and translation needs of the district.

Administers, scores and reports the findings of English language assessments.

Reviews international transcripts to determine the award of credits, if applicable.

Assists in designing and implementing in-service training or professional development for target audiences.

Codes English Learner status in the District’s Student Information System (SIS).

Provides resource services for divisions, departments and schools.

Projects budget needs and monitors the use of allocated funds.

Updates webpage and District resources available to new families and local schools.

Exhibit a commitment to professional ethics and the center’s mission; participate in professional growth opportunities and contribute to the profession.

Compile, maintain and submit all required reports accurately and in a timely manner.

Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established State and local School Board policies, regulations and practices.

Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.

Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.

Communicate effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that support a seamless transition to U.S. school systems and cultures.
