Receptionist/Legal Clerk – District Attorney’s Office
Position Summary: Performs a variety of responsible and confidential legal clerical functions on a flexible schedule. Interacts with the public and professionals for the District Attorney’s office personnel. Receives and inputs documentation for legal disclosure and tracking.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Interacts with public and other departments
- Accurately intakes and preparation of files for various filing systems with regards to organized filing system
- Takes calls and either responds or routes to other appropriate personnel
- Coordinates and schedule appointments as necessary
- Prepares of legal documents, press releases, jury charts, and court dispositions
- Assists in the maintenance office calendar for various court appearances
- Operates all machines and duplicating equipment
- Assists in collection of funds, observing auditable procedures and practices
- Storage and retrieval of old files for records management
- Assists in the prepares discovery for attorney and open record request
- Assists in preparation of monthly reports
Additional duties and responsibilities
- Additional duties as directed by the District Attorney
- Assists with office inventory and needed supplies
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required to Perform the Essential Functions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of office practices and business communications
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, prosecuting attorney, court organizational procedures and precedents
- Knowledge of legal skills, terminology and forms/documents used preferred
- Skilled in oral and written communications
- Skilled in interacting with public, other department and interpersonal relationships while maintaining confidentiality practices
- Ability to multi-task, work under stressful situation while meeting deadlines
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
- Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action
- Ability to organize with attention to detail
- Ability to interact with public and other departments
Work Environment
- Work will be performed indoors
- Subjected to comments and/or photos that may be offensive
- Subjected to emotional and /or physical disturbances
Physical Requirements
- This person will remain in a stationary position 80% of the work day.
- Occasionally moves about the office and courthouse to access files, documents and office machinery.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printer.
- Occasionally positions self to bend or reach over head to move or access materials.
- Frequently communicates with others in relation to legal matters. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Occasionally moves files, documents and other materials weighing up to 40 lbs. to various locations in the office and courthouse.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous office experience with payment responsibilities preferred
- Qualify for bonding insurance
