CHEROKEE COUNTY FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with proper endorsement(s) for subject area(s)
JOB GOAL: To prepare students with knowledge and skill for managing personal, family, and work life and for preparing for careers in family and consumer sciences.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides instruction for students to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed for:
- Strengthening the well-being of individuals and families across the life span.
- Becoming responsible citizens and leaders in family, community, and work settings.
- Promoting optimal nutrition and wellness across the life span.
- Managing resources to meet the needs of individuals and families.
- Balancing personal, home, family, and work lives.
- Using critical-creative-thinking skills to address problems in family, community, and work environments.
- Managing life, employment, and career development successfully.
- Functioning effectively as providers and consumers of goods and services.
- Appreciating human worth and accepting responsibility for one’s actions and success in family and work life.
- Enhancing intellectual development and maximizing potential.
- Preparing students to be college- and career ready.
- Teaching content knowledge and skills in a career pathway program(s).
- Providing instruction to prepare students for holding a career readiness indicator (CRI) upon graduation.
2. Disseminates information regarding career and technical education career opportunities to students, faculty and staff, parents, and community agencies.
3. Interprets the family and consumer sciences education program to students, parents, faculty and staff, and community leaders.
4. Maintains files and records and other information related to students and the family and consumer sciences program.
5. Submits accurate reports required by the local educational agency.
6. Maintains high standards in the family and consumer sciences department by keeping it clean, in order, and equipment repaired and up-to-date with current inventory.
7. Serves as an advisor for FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America).
8. Develops instructional plans for a quality instructional program.
9. Utilizes productive, experimental, and observational laboratory experiences in the instructional program.
10. Assumes other responsibilities which may be assigned by the local school Administrator.
Salary Range: According to Cherokee County Schools Salary Schedule. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience.
