CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (AVIATION AND VEHICULAR FUEL)

THE ROLE

Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and execution of field crew activities. Supervise and coordinate onsite field operations and associated Subcontractors and Vendors. Provide input towards the development of the project schedule. Adhere to project schedule and orchestrate timely project completion within budget. Cooperate with Project Manager and maintain open lines of communication regarding matters concerning Safety, Project budget, Productivity, Change Orders, Quality Control, and Customer.


Responsibilities include:

Oversee all aspects of mechanical (fuel) related projects, including installation, modification, and demolition of fuel underground/aboveground tanks and large/small diameter piping, hydrant fuel piping, hydrant pits, drain downs, pigging, flushing, and civil related aspects of projects, including concrete demolition and placement and dewatering;


Essential Functions/Skills:

  • Developing a Master Plan approach for projects.
  • Executing, supervising, and maintaining project manpower, milestone schedules, and material orders.
  • Practicing, promoting, and developing mentoring of all trades and manpower levels.
  • Enforcing and implementing the dictates and recommendations of the EHS Department.
  • Completing all documentation required in the Health and Safety Plan.
  • Considering and implementing all EHS Requirements in the Planning and Coordination Phases.
  • Documenting and ensuring any required corrective measures are addressed and implemented.
  • Reviewing all daily and weekly scope of work activities with Project Managers.
  • Requisitioning maintenance and accounting for tools, materials, and equipment with Fleet and Project Management.
  • Monitoring progress, performance, and quality of work for all Subcontractors and major Equipment Suppliers.
  • Coordinating all required inspections with Project Foreman and maintaining good working relationships with inspectors.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and updating Labor Hours/Job Costs Report information with project management on a weekly basis.
  • Optimize project opportunity by field/pre-fabrication planning, BIM, organizing, and scheduling, without compromising the quality, safety, or completion date of the project.
  • Assist project management with schedule preparation, including logic and resource/budget allocation, Labor Resource Charts, and provide updates as required.
  • Maintaining proper and complete documentation of the project as required and available for inspection at all times.
  • Providing required training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership for field personnel. Participation in company-provided training.
  • Ensuring accurate and complete cost coding of all timecards on a daily basis. Review, sign-off and forward timecards to corporate office as required.
  • Overseeing all tradesmen at the project site, including, but not limited to, Pipefitters, Welders, Heavy Equipment Operators, General Construction personnel, Environmental technicians, and all Subcontractor personnel (Electricians, Start-up technicians, etc.)
  • Ensuring efficient project closeout, including completion of all punch list work, owner training and instruction, transfer of spare parts, final cleanup, As-Built plans, demobilization, and project records archiving.


THE CANDIDATE

To be considered for this position the candidate must:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in this role


Certificates & Licenses: 

  • OSHA 30-hour Construction
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, a plus
  • Florida Advance Traffic Control Supervisor, a plus
  • Florida Stormwater Inspector, a plus
  • NCCER Accreditation desired
  • FDOT CTQP Certifications as applicable


Competencies:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand contract plans and specifications.
  • Ability to perform accurate estimating and takeoffs for mechanical/civil systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and habits
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and present solutions.
  • History and the ability to maintain high attendance and punctuality.
  • Traffic Control and work at Airports and Federal Government Facilities are a Plus
  • Knowledge of Proper Use of Survey Equipment


Computer Skills: 

  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Complete Daily reports / JSAs / Toolbox meeting
  • Ability to send and receive email.
  • Ability to complete online time reporting, including preparation of Certified Payroll sign in.


Other Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
  • Competent Person Lockout/Tagout, Confined space, and Trenching and Excavation procedures in a safe manner.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will involve exposure to all weather conditions such as hot, humid, rain, and/or snowy winter, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Will regularly work in an outdoors, construction project environment.
