What are the responsibilities and job description for the Center Security Officer position at Cherokee Nation?
Responsible for patrolling an assigned area and enforcing rules and regulations to safeguard life and property from accidental or malicious damage. Provides transportation as needed.
Job Duties:Observes grounds and buildings to detect suspicious activities or circumstances. Prepares reports and maintains security log(s). Confronts suspicious persons to inquire into the nature of their business at the location. Apprises persons of the rules and regulations governing their presence on center property and warns violators of the penalties for infractions. Calls law enforcement officials and Supervisor to report the presence of unauthorized persons. Notifies Center Director if required to make any contact with an outside agency. Reports fire hazards, broken windows and other conditions affecting the security of the building to appropriate officials. Conducts monitoring of all smoke and fire alarm systems to ensure they are operable, free and clear of obstructions. Drives GSA vehicles as needed.Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or obtain within 180 days of employment and maintain throughout employment. Law Enforcement or Security Guard certification is preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
