What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cherokee Immersion Teacher Assistant I position at Cherokee Nation?
Assist with the supervision of students in the classroom. Assists with Instruction to students in Cherokee language according to set lesson plans and curriculum using Cherokee syllabary.
Job Duties:Assists in the development of lesson plans. Teaches daily lessons in the Cherokee language. Operates language technology equipment. Assists in maintaining records and reports as required. Responsible for the overall classroom in the absence of the Certified Teacher. Assists in physically arranging the room and equipment for learning sessions. Works with the teachers to maintain communication with parents and staff in both written and verbal form. Prepares the classroom by making sure the room is clean and orderly. Participates in all co-curricular and extra-curricular events. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be fluent in Cherokee Language with reading and writing Cherokee Syllabary.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
