Job Summary :
Provides a mix of field, administrative, design, and management duties for the development of engineering skills. Assists in the development, design, and implementation of projects for the construction of individual and community water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities, roads, bridges, parking, and drainage structures within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
Job Duties :
Gathers information and prepares necessary documentation to develop potential projects for the construction of water and / or wastewater facilities, road and / or bridge projects, solid waste facilities, parking facilities, and drainage structures. Assist in the design of new or improved water, wastewater, roads, bridges, solid waste, and drainage facilities for review by a licensed professional engineer. Gathers environmental documents in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines. Assists in preparing funding agreements, budgets, and project scopes to be reviewed by others. Conducts field reviews of project sites. Conducts Hydraulic analysis of projects under a Professional engineer. Attend meetings with project participants. Drafts reports, easements, and routine correspondence. Coordinates and directs surveying of project sites under a Professional engineer. Assist in developing contract bid packages under a Professional engineer. Manages contract schedules, progress, budgets, and changes under a Professional engineer. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications :
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering Technologies school; no substitutions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
No additional experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess or must be able to obtain certification as an Engineer-In-Training within one year of employment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals / Entities (LEIE). A working knowledge of Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), land surveying principles and practice, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and an understanding of fluid mechanics, preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and working near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold / heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
