CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)

Job Summary :

Assists civil engineers to plan and design constructions.

Job Duties :

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Calculates dimensions and draws detailed dimensional design layouts for projects.

Reviews project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions.

Prepares reports and records project data.

Develops plans and estimates cost for construction projects.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Performs work under direct supervision.

Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Qualifications : QUALIFICATIONS

Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience.

At least three (3) years of experience in a related field.

COMPETENCIES

Ability to work as part of a team.

Oral and written communication skills.

Design expertise.

Computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may occasionally lift 25 to more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct / adjust focus.
