Job Summary

Cooks foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served. Washes dishes and keeps work area neat. Bakes breads and pastries according to menus. Plans menu while taking advantage of available sources. Serves meals. Orders supplies and keeps records and accounts. Directs activities of one or more workers assigned to kitchen or dining areas. Trains volunteers and other employees assigned to kitchen or dining areas. Cleans floors, counters, tables, appliances and other equipment according to standard practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Minimum supervisory responsibility. (i.e. Lead position)
Qualifications
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENT
High school education; or general education degree (GED) or six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer some courses in food preparation or nutrition.
Experience Requirement
An additional two (2) year experience in food service is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain a Food Handlers Card and be certified in CPR and first aid within 3 months of employment.

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTÂ
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and risk of electrical shock.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
